Blogspiration (7) - Gene Kelly

Blogspiration is a weekly meme hosted by GrowingUpYA and Saz101. The meme was created to help spark inspiration among bloggers, readers and writers alike. An inspirational quote/picture/video is posted weekly, on the day of the author's choosing, so that it may inspire creativity, conversation or just a little SOMETHING.

There was a time when I hated going to work - mostly because some of the people I worked with sucked.  Long story, but when I got home from an aggravating day, I would pop in my latest Netflix rental - a Gene Kelly film.  I steadily went through Netflix's offerings and absolutely fell in love with the idealized drama and romance of a movie musical from the 40s and 50s.  And especially with Gene's effortless, inventive, and dynamic dances.  And for the two hours or so I watched the film, I was transported to a happy place where I could forget about work and watch people dance joy.  And since I'm not much of a dancer, I can watch Gene dance and feel that joy.  Gosh, I would so love to be a dancer.

My blogspiration today is in honor of how much happiness Gene brings me and if you have the time, you might have a little happiness watching one of his dances.  I picked "Nina" from The Pirate.  One of my favorites - it's so fun how Gene acrobatically moves through the town - his attention taken by every female he sees.  And the dance in the gazebo - so lovely.
