Cover Reveal: Hidden Huntress (Stolen Songbird book #2)

Posted by Charlene // Tags: , ,
In the almost three years I've been blogging, I've never done a cover reveal post.  I usually want to put more content in my post than a cover reveal entails, but I couldn't pass this up since I loved the first book, Stolen Songbird, so much.  (It was even one of my best of 2014 picks!)

This series is shaping up to be a wonderful, evocative and emotional fantasy and I hope that if you haven't read the first book yet, you will give it a try!

Here's the plot synopsis of "Hidden Huntress", with the cover and my thoughts on it below -

Sometimes, one must accomplish the impossible.

Beneath the mountain, the king’s reign of tyranny is absolute; the one troll with the capacity to challenge him is imprisoned for treason. Cécile has escaped the darkness of Trollus, but she learns all too quickly that she is not beyond the reach of the king’s power. Or his manipulation.

Recovered from her injuries, she now lives with her mother in Trianon and graces the opera stage every night. But by day she searches for the witch who has eluded the trolls for five hundred years. Whether she succeeds or fails, the costs to those she cares about will be high.

To find Anushka, she must delve into magic that is both dark and deadly. But the witch is a clever creature. And Cécile might not just be the hunter. She might also be the hunted…

The cover for 'Stolen Songbird' is one of my favorite covers ever I think, so the sequel had a lot to live up to.  I love that the focus again is on this gorgeous outfit with a beautiful rococo (would it be?) architecture behind her.  The first book was mostly set subterranean, so the cover didn't reveal too much of the fantasy setting of these books (although the Stolen Songbird cover had a renaissance feel to me), but now it's clearer what the setting is, especially since the main character gets to perform in an opera now.  Which by the way is a very appealing aspect of this story to me - not that I'm a big fan of operas, but I am interested in performers in general.  While this cover doesn't quite have that delightful contrast of light that is in the cover for book 1, I think this is still a beautiful cover and fits in well with the series!

"Hidden Huntress" is expected to be released on June 2nd!  Thank you Caroline Lambe and Angry Robot Books for the opportunity to participate in this cover reveal!  And of course many thanks to the author Danielle Jensen for writing this awesome series!
