Christmas Songs Book Tag

Posted by Charlene // Tags: , ,
Merry Christmas everyone!  I hope you are having a lovely day with family and friends.  And I wish everyone a very Happy New Year!  Thank you for being wonderful and brilliant blogger friends.

When I saw this book tag on Quinn's Book Nook, I knew it would be perfect for my Christmas day post.  This tag was created by Jana at The Artsy Reader Girl.

1. "All I Want for Christmas Is You" - Name your favorite bookish couple.

Jane & Rochester of course! (Hee, your post made me want to find a cute kissy gif too, Quinn!)

Merry Christmas!

Posted by Charlene // Tags: ,

Merry Christmas everyone!  Because Christmas is my favorite holiday, I decided to celebrate it by answering some Christmas favorites questions.  Please do comment with your favorites if you wish!

Favorite Christmas--

Song
Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas
I pretty much love to listen to this song year round!  There's something so poignant about the lyrics that touches me!

Movie
Home Alone
Not a traditional Christmas story at all, but such a solid film, and really unexpectedly touching.  With my Christmas anything I guess I like it to move me in some way.

Story
The Gift of the Magi by O. Henry
Another touching story - where two people realize that what they already have is more important than what they can buy.  And it's a very neatly done short story!

Food
Harvest Pie
There's a chain restaurant around here called Coco's, and they do this really yummy version of a pumpkin pie with a layer of whipped, creamy pumpkin goodness on top.  So fattening.  But delicious!

Scent
Pine
I just had to include this question because of how much I love the smell of pine.  Not a cleaners type scent, but the deep woodsy smell from a Christmas tree.  It's really comforting!

Merry Christmas!

Cheers!!

Happy Holidays to everyone!  I'm going to be spending time with family today, probably watching Catching Fire again in theaters and rounding that off with the Doctor Who Christmas special, so I hope your day will be as full of fun and merry as mine! (Except for the Doctor Who Christmas special.  I'm sure it will be devastating.)

Do you guys find you take a lot of pictures on your phone?  Just random things, that look nice, but you know you will never really look at it again?  I find I do that.  And I think it's kinda a bad habit.  Especially when I need to make space on my phone, and I'm going through all these photos and wondering why I ever took them.  So to make me feel less like the photos are useless - here are some iPhone pics I took recently with a Christmas-y feel. :)

Cute Mickey figure for sale at the local bookstore!
Can't even get a steady shot of this lovely tree at the Ahmanson Theatre
There was a double rainbow the other day at work - right outside my window!

The little Christmas tree we have set up at work!  And lovely restaurant menus on the wall because food is always important.

Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas!

Posted by Charlene // Tags: ,
Hello and thank you to all my past and present and future readers!  I started this blog earlier this year in March and wasn't sure exactly where it would go or if anyone would see it, but so many months later I'm so glad I did it and am so grateful for anyone who takes the time to read the posts. It's been a fantastic year celebrating books and authors and readers, and it's so lovely to be part of a community of so many dedicated and inspired individuals.  I appreciate everyone who stops by so much, and I hope you all have yourself a merry little Christmas!  (and/or holiday of choice!)

Now I'll just leave my favorite version of my favorite Christmas song here:

And then the Doctor Who version:

New Doctor Who Christmas special today OMG!

Happy Holidays Everyone!
